The Death of True Worship and the Birth of Sacrifice

For a while, many things, as pertaining to the House of the LORD, has burdened my heart; unfortunately, I have not been able to put them down in words because I do not write unless I am inspired so to do. While the Most High desires and seeks out His own to be with Him in true fellowship, we have somehow replaced that fellowship with sacrifices to God, as one far away from Him, seeking His face and hands for things we are unable to handle within our powers.

It is easy to be with God, except that what it entails are seemingly too difficult to attain for His people.

“Who shall ascend unto the hills of the LORD, or who may stand in His holy place? He, who has clean hands, and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive blessings from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation” – Psalm 24 : 3-5

Staying with the LORD is not without cleanliness of hands, purity of heart, freedom from idolatry, uprightness and integrity. It seems these are too lofty to attain these days. Becoming successful, by the standard of the world, is laced with a lot of integrity issues and purity of heart has become a scarce commodity.

Like those who operated under the law, who were unable to fulfil them because of the absence of grace, the abuse of grace has cost many believers the ability to walk closely with God. Instead of genuinely repenting, with finality to unrighteousness, many are resolved to appeasing God with sacrifices from a distance. These sacrifices have morphed into many forms; the list is endless. . .

There are those with unfailing church attendance and busyness with activities in the church without any real relationship with the God of the House;

There are those with generous gifts towards church works and the spreading of the gospel without a life that reflects the blessings of salvation, through Christ;

There are those who give their presence and loyalty to anything that has the name of the LORD attached to it without any real understanding of who God really is; and

There are those who gave their whole life and career away to the service of the House of God, yet, they relate with God through intermediaries that are not Christ, but people who have a claim to spiritual authority.

In all, it is possible to have lost all and not know it. In fact, and in truth, so many people have lost their relationship with God, yet they do not know it.

This is a call to true fellowship with God. It is a call to obey God and be with Him.

“Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice and to heed than the fat of rams”- 1 Samuel 15 : 22b

Any believer, who is not living in absolute surrender to God and obedience to every letter and Spirit of His word, is far away from true worship.

Obedience is the highest level of worship

Looking deeper, it is now evident that the rise of sacrifices is no longer just for appeasement to God for the inconsistencies with obeying His word anymore; Instead, it has actually become an offering to appease God for blessings that are sought from God. The Scripture is clear . . . blessings come from the LORD to those who have ascended to where He is. Blessings are in God’s presence; they are not available to those who prefer the pleasures of sin and ungodliness but desires the blessings of God that makes rich without adding sorrow to it.

Heaven’s verdict is clear: blessings and righteousness are gifts from the LORD to those who STAY WITH HIM.
