Wise Responses

Culture is how we live. It is a choice we are empowered to make; each one having the right to make that choice. Still, it doesn’t seem like the choices are there anymore; in reality, society makes these decisions for us all by default. When you see anyone doing all to exercise his or her power of choice to choose otherwise, such is quickly labelled and judged without any opportunity to be heard or weighed against scales of fairness and justice.

This is the trouble with being alive in this time and it’s seasons, as it was with times and seasons past, and as it would be in times and seasons to come. There would be no fair trial for anyone for their choices, each one would be judged by other peoples’ standards, mostly set by the common consciousness of society, with little or no consideration for the peculiarities of such life. You may be condemned for doing the right thing, you may be praised and honored for doing despicable things. . . these responses are not the yardstick for truth anymore. Indeed, the accolades may lie, the chiding may be for standing upright; in all these, one thing you must never lose sight of is the PURPOSE of who you are becoming and the PRICE to pay for it.

Since judgment in the courts of men is inevitable, what manner of life should we lead? Should we become careless with perceptions of people, though they may have been skewed in erroneous directions? Should we become nonchalant, since we are persuaded we are in the right? There is still a measure of responsibility, people’s error of judgment notwithstanding. The Bible admonishes that:

“. . . whatever things are TRUE, whatever things are  NOBLE, whatever things are  JUST, whatever things are PURE, whatever things are  LOVELY, whatever things are of GOOD REPORT, if there  is any VIRTUE and if there  is anything PRAISEWORTHY—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw . . . these do, and the God of peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:8‭-‬9 NKJV

Even the ungodly can recognize these things. If anything is of God, it will demonstrate these virtues. Let the world judge you with what they see in their lenses; but never be found wanting in these virtues. Learn virtue, receive the word, hear the truth and see the glory of God (fulfillment of His word). When all is said and done, nothing else would matter more than that you used your life wisely and your purpose is not lost on you, despite whatever happens to you.

May the God of peace rule and reign in and around you. Met He keep you from every worry and flood your life with boundless joy. Amen.
